What does it mean to be a hero? Every culture has stories of larger-than-life characters who change the world. Looking at one hero in particular, Maui, we can learn what makes a hero in the eyes of Polynesian culture, as his legends are told across Polynesian mythology from Hawai'i to New Zealand. Stories of Maui from New Zealand's Maori people use traditional culture to teach what a hero is.
